What to Wear: Ice Skating

By
March 18th, 2014

Ice skating is a fun activity for people of any age. Whether you like to skate competitively or just for fun with friends and family, it is a great activity that allows you to interact with others and burn some calories at the same time.

When you’re planning to come to an ice rink for a regular skating session, you can visit our website to get the information you need. An important thing to know is what to wear so you can be comfortable and have more fun on the ice.

Clothing to Wear

Even if it is somewhat warm outside, it is cold on the ice rink. If you think you will be falling at all, you should prepare even more. Wear long pants that are comfortable and stretchy. You need to be able to move freely on the ice rink, but you want to have pants that will keep your legs warm. They should not be too long or wide at the bottom so you will not trip over them. You need to be able to tuck them into your ice skates or at least have them high off the ice when you are skating.

Wear a jacket that is warm. Depending on the weather, a sweatshirt or a long-sleeved shirt may be good enough. You will warm up as you start to skate, so wearing layers can help you stay comfortable. You can take off layers as you warm up and put them back on if you get cold.

Most people like to wear a hat or ear muffs to keep their head and ears warm. The ice is cold and, as you skate, there will be a little wind on your ears, which can make them cold. Bring a warm hat to be prepared. You should also wear gloves or mittens to keep your hands warm—you may need to keep them out of your pockets for balance and holding hands with others, and so you need to keep them warm.

Taking Lessons

Ice skating becomes more fun the better you get. You can visit our website to take lessons from someone who is very good at ice skating and can teach you everything you need to know.

There is a common practice among many companies throughout the United States of America and the world to meet together often and discuss relevant topics of concern. These meetings are often referred to as conferences, and are generally held at large cities throughout the country. The company you work for will be invited to have a few people attend to learn important information that they will take back to your company and hopefully incorporate into their practice. While you are traveling to one of these conferences, you may also have the privilege of staying in hotels in OKC with a jacuzzi in the room so you can relax and enjoy yourself.

The financial industry is full of conferences that convene each year. Many companies will host a conference or sponsor a conference that is held in any given month out of the year. These conferences are advertised in many magazines and periodicals that are often read by CEOs and CFOs of financial companies. However, the companies that host or sponsor these events generally have a long list of people they would like to invite.

There are many conferences that are attending by invitation only, and there are others that anyone can attend as long as they are willing to pay the registration fee. Typically the company hosting the conference will set a price per person just as an admission fee to attend the conference. There may be a discount offered if multiple people sign up together, but those tend to be rare. In addition, the people who are attending the conference will be responsible for obtaining transportation to and from the event, as well as hotel accommodations while they are in town. Finally, the meals you eat while you are out for the conference will be paid for by you, with the exception of any meals offered as part of the registration fee. The meals or other food provided at the conference usually come at the expense of the sponsor.

If you are fortunate enough to have your company send you to one of these conferences, then chances are you will not be responsible for the entire bill. You will most likely have your travel and hotel accommodations taken care of through your company’s travel department. They will pay for your plane ticket and hotel room in advance so you will not have to worry about it when you get there. In addition, they will also provide you with a certain dollar amount that you can spend each day on meals. You will want to be sure that you keep track of all your receipts so you can turn them in when you get back from the conference. Hopefully your company will pick one of the hotels in OKC with a jacuzzi in the room so you can have a nice, relaxing stay while you are hard at work listening to all the speakers at your conference. It can also be hard eating all the good food at the expense of your company.

Find Your Travel Motto and Go

By
September 30th, 2013

There is nothing better than going on vacation, especially when you have the funds to do so. You can see things that you have never seen or indulge in the same tradition year after year. No matter where you go, just getting away from where you normally are can help drag you out of a funk. Variety is the spice of life, and travel is the paprika of those spices. There are some things that you need to make sure that you have before you go. You will need a place to stay that is near the vacation spot that you are visiting. For example, if you want to see animals on your vacation, you might look for hotels near the Oklahoma City Zoo.

The Traveler’s Motto

You might be asking yourself, “What’s a motto?” to which anyone with a sense of humor would respond, “Nothing. What’s a motto with you?” Corny jokes aside, you might want to find yourself a travel motto that you can live with.

People who like to see and experience a variety of things might adopt a motto like “Travel light, travel far, travel fast.” These are the people who never pack more than a carry-on, and no one ever really knows where they are or where they are going, including themselves. The advantage of this motto is that if something is interesting, there is no reason to worry about packing up and going because you are already there.

Those who like to relax may adopt a motto like “First Class.” Typically, the person that adopts this motto likes luxury and relaxing on vacation. He or she may not be able to experience such things on a daily basis, but that is what vacation is for — to experience those things that aren’t available every day. Otherwise, you might as well just stay home, save money, and continue to work. This motto may cut down on other experiences because there are places where luxury is not an option like a hole in the wall restaurant. The food may be spectacular, but typically, those seeking luxury won’t be in a position to find it.

Spending Habits

In today’s economy, it seems like 99% of the people are on a budget. (The other 1% weren’t actually hurt in the recession, you can ask them.) That means that you need to know what it is that you want to spend your money on and how much you have in the budget. How many souvenirs will you get and what will they be? Maybe you can only afford one souvenir and you collect spoons. That makes it easy. Even if you can’t really afford a souvenir, you might consider picking up a reminder of the good times that you had, so that you can remember it the rest of the year.

If you are traveling with someone, it is good to know what that person’s spending priorities are. You might be perfectly willing to spend a large sum of money on luxury hotels near the Oklahoma City Zoo; you will just want to make sure that your traveling companion agrees.

You also want to do something that appeals to you as well. Some activities become difficult once you have kids of all ages in the family. Going to a movie can be difficult because there aren’t many movies that would suit the older kids as well as the younger ones. If you are looking for some fun family activities, you could try going to the bowling lanes in Michigan or doing another of these fun activities.
